Sports Medicine

Russell did an absolutely brilliant job deconstructing the confusing nomenclature surrounding tendon pathologies. Take home points in tendonopathy include:

  • NSAIDs - no role

  • Rest - more than a few days no good

  • Corticosteroids - no role

  • Dry needling —> may help

  • Sclerosants —> probably not

  • GTN patch —> maybe

  • Exercise therapy —> yes please - eccentric exercises

Tendonopathy appears to be the new bursitis.

Workshop

  • strapping techniques for fasttrack

  • traumatic brain injury simulation
